Tron : Legacy

The new Tron movie fails to live up to its legacy.

I have never  watched the first Tron movie which apparently was a cult favorite in its day.

Personally, the sequel was a bit of a let down for me. Yet, fans of the original may be pleased. I don't know, I'm too young.

The action is cool, can't disagree. The Tron-style duels are just breathtaking. The visuals are amazing ans the Grid is beautiful in its own cold highlighted way. Daft Punk's cameo also makes the film that much better. The story however, is disappointing.

Best part of the movie?

Sam's father has all this awesome force-like powers but he can't compete against Clu? Seriously? What a joke.

As far as I can tell, Tron's abrupt change of heart at the end is also just plain dumb. He just suddenly thinks"Oh goodness what have I done?" and rams into Clu with a battlecry of " I fight for the users!" Gosh.

The threat of Clu's army also just doesn't seem very realistic. We never actually get to see it in action besides some spear pounding to hail their leader. The soldiers themselves don't seem very lethal as they're easily dispatched by Sam, dad and Quorra. There is no fear of them. A nicely placed airstrike in the real world should be enough to take them out.

So all Sam has got out of entering the Grid is : -1 dead father who sacrifices himself and +1 hot female ISO

Bonus for entering the Grid.
