First Sheep Now Cows?

New Zealanders are now not only outnumbered by sheep, but also by cows. In June 2009, there were 5.8 million dairy cattle compared to 4.3 million Kiwis. Having always had to endure jokes about being outnumbered 20-1 by sheep, they will now have to endure similar jokes about cows. In fact, the number of sheep was 'only' 32 million in 2009 compared to a peak of 70 million in 1982.
