It seems that the 'Hallelujah Mountains' in the movie 'Avatar' by James Cameron was inspired by the real life majestic peak in Hunan province previously known as "Heaven and Earth Pillar" or "South Sky Pillar". Note that I wrote 'previously known as'. The Chinese government has officially renamed it"Avatar Hallelujah Mountain" . Which I think is really stupid. Why bother to rename it after the movie mountains? It was the original that inspired the movie version and therefore it should stay as an original and should not be cheap way of cashing in on the movie's popularity. How sad.
First picture is movie mountains and second is the real mountains.
