A Conspiracy

Has anyone ever considered the ridiculous possibility that (Modern Warfare 2) was actually a premeditated "silent rebellion" type of thing by Infinity Ward since the very beginning?

Anyone who's played MW2 can agree, there's a ton of imbalance in it. Tactical insertions that lead to boosting, unlimited grenade launchers that were too strong and some near-godlike killstreaks. It was just too much. Did IW really give that much attention to the balance of these weapons? Oh, did I mention how outclassed handguns are in comparison to other secondaries?

Intentional???!!!

There's also all the weirdness going on with MW2's storyline. So many plot holes and questions come up when you actually sit down for a few minutes and examine the plotline. Russia's suddenly awe-powerful again. Nikolai is a self-appointed chauffeur. Price survived? How did he get captured? (Why is his hat always perfectly poised on his head?) What the fuck is up with Shepherd? He was in cahoots with Makarov, then he backstabbed Makarov? How did he manage all that without being caught?

There's so many things that have been clouded by oversight to just dismiss it as simple mistakes. Did IW really care as much as they did for this game? Or were they fed up with Kotick and Activision that they decided to put less work into MW2 than they should have?


It could be possible.

Call Of Duty Multiplayer History

Black Ops has been out for weeks now. Lotsa complaints about it that have mostly died down.

The thing is, I am a long time fan of Call Of Duty even before multiplayer became its forte. Finest Hour, Big Red One, 3, 4, World at War, Modern Warfare 2 and now Black Ops. I've played them all. the earlier ones just for single player. I only started playing multiplayer when numero quattro came out.

It was groundbreaking. Online multiplayer for first person shooters(and other games as well) would never be the same again. Class customization, perks, weapon attachments, killstreaks combined with top notch(for its time) graphics blew everyone away. Everyone played it. People who never picked up a controller/keyboard+mouse before played it. People who hated first person shooters loved it. Critics for once agreed with gamers. It received numerous awards as well as going on to become a best selling game. It was also the most distributed(pirated) PC game next to WOW, DotA and CS.

Then World at War came out. It was a huge disappointment. Back to the ancient era of WW2, it lost the 'cool' factor. In addition, the graphics had not really improved. The game was basically a copy of Modern Warfare with a WW2 skin. It was also plagued by the imbalance of the MP40 and the PTRS-41. This drove players to the Nazi Zombies mode which became a huge hit.

The sequel to the best selling game arrived. It was called Modern Warfare 2(duh). Pre-orders and expectations soared. Then the game actually came out. For a while, everyone was still bursting with excitement and adrenaline. Slowly, cracks appeared and the design team failed to patch these cracks. The multitude of killstreaks and the addition of pro-perks were too much. Everything in the game was powerful and killed instantly. Spec ops failed to cover for the failure of the multiplayer like zombies did.

Fast forward to 2010. Black Ops. Surpassing MW2, it established new records. Some minor cracks that appeared were soon patched. Everything was balanced perfectly. Each weapon and perk had its own strengths and weakness. Customization was improved. Zombies was brought back. Everyone form gamers to critics were gushing.

I am not.

Sure, it's great. Probably the best yet. However, it lacks the X factor Modern Warfare brought with it. Bottomline, it's nothing new. We've seen it all before. It's just that things have been tweaked to exactly how it should have been all the while. The franchise has been reinventing the same game since Modern Warfare. It needs a fresh start, a new system.

However, Activision doesn't seem to realise that. Next year, 2/TWO/DUE/DEUX/DOS/ZWEI/两
Call of Duty games are coming out.

Medal Of Honor Mini Review

I really meant to review Medal Of Honor a long time ago. Laziness trumped over intentions and I'm doing a quick mini review.

So I'm just going to say this. Medal Of Honor delivers a really harsh yet touching story about the reality of the conflict in Afghanistan. That's about the only good thing as it suffers from a lack of refinement. Plenty of bugs and glitches spoil the game.

The multiplayer also fails to deliver. If you thought spawn trapping was bad in other games, play Medal of Honor and you will go running back to other shooters.

A lack of an additional game mode also makes Medal of Honor feel a bit lacking. The Tier One mode where you compete to to get best times on campaign missions feels tacked on and isn't actually a game mode by itself.

Basically, the whole game feels rushed or still in its beta stage; INCOMPLETE.

Sorry, but you guys just aren't good enough.

Dissecting Black Ops Trophy List

The trophy list for Black Ops was leaked recently. I'm not so excited about knowing the trophies themselves. It's just that the trophies can tell us a lot about the game.

What we know will happen in Campaign

• We KILL Castro in Cuba! The real man is still alive though.
• Infiltrate Vorkuta, a coal mining town in Russia
• Take part in a fierce battle in Khe Sanh, South Vietnam
• Fight Soviets in Laos
• You have to kill test monkeys and run through lethal gas on some place called Rebirth Island

Other stuff that can be confirmed

• An enemy type called Pentagon thief which can steal you loadout. WTH is a pentagon thief?
• Dead Ops Arcade is the name of another game mode.

Black Ops is shaping up to be VERY interesting.

Wager Match

Wager Matches are a new Free-For-All multiplayer playlist for Call Of Duty Black Ops. There will be 6 players. Every player will wager a fixed amount of CoD points against everyone else. Top 3 are 'in the money' and win the points, with 1st getting the most.

The buy-in cost varies, Ante-Up has the lowest with parties allowed, Weekend Gambler is higher with no parties and High Roller is high stakes with Pro Gambler Mode enabled.

• No equipment
• No parties
• No join game session
• NO BOOSTING

It has four game modes : Gun Game, Sharpshooter, Sticks & Stones and One In The Chamber


Gun Game : Everyone will start out with a pistol. With each kill a player will move up one level, which will grant them a new weapon. Knifing an enemy does not give you a new weapon, the kill must be with that weapon in order to level up. The game ends when a kill is achieved with all twenty tiers of weapons. However, if a player is knifed, they will move down a level.

Sharpshooter : Every player will receive the same random weapon. After a set period of time (rumored to be anything between 45 seconds and 5 minutes), their current weapon will be cycled out for a new one. With each kill, a player will receive a perk and, eventually, a scoring multiplier.

Sticks & Stones : All players spawn with a Crossbow, a Ballistic Knife, and a Tomahawk. Players can bankrupt one another with Tomahawk kills.

One In The Chamber : Each player starts out with a pistol with one bullet and their knife. One more bullet is gained with each kill. However, each player will only have three lives and if the bullet misses they only have their knife.

Dead Rising 2 Review

I got Dead Rising 2, played it. It's good. Not great, but good.

Outwardly appearing like a shallow zombie-slasher game, Dead Rising 2 exceeds expectations thanks to its characters. The characters really bring the less than original story to life. Dialogue, animations and the lot are done well. Ranging to phychos who want you dead to civilians needing rescuing, the over top characters inject a great sense of humor into the game.

Customization is the core of gameplay. You can put on any clothes that you find with no restrictions. I didn't really find it that fun but some may get a kick out of slashing away in a tutu. Almost anything large, sharp or long that you see can be picked up and turned into a weapon. Combine these and you get more awesome weapons. There are limits though, and not everything works like it should.

The missions are not that hard by themselves. However, the time limit on them really makes you have to rush more than I liked. If you want to mess around, you can't complete the story at the same time. It adds some excitement I suppose but I could have done without it. You can level up until lvl 50, and can bring back progress for subsequent playthroughs which makes it better.

The co-op ability seems negligible, you can enjoy the game perfectly without your friend. In fact, having a friend along makes the story seem really awkward. If you just wanna slash, by all means. The competitive mode is really not that fun and is quickly forgotten.

The downside of this game is long and frequent load times. Entry to every new area presents a considerably NOT short load time. The controls and camera also frustrate at times.

Dead Rising 2 is great for it's campaign and for messing around with friends. When it frustrates, be patient and you will enjoy. Ties you down long enough for mega games like Fallout : New Vegas and Call Of Duty : Black Ops

The Sacrifice DLC Trailer

A new DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 has been announced together with a trailer. It will feature the original set of survivors : Bill, Louis, Francis and ZOEY!

This DLC will incorporate the 'sacrifice' game mechanic, hence the name. One player will have to sacrifice themselves in order for the others to escape. In the trailer, it shows a segment where the survivors have to start up a generator to cross a bridge. THREE TANKS will appear, and Bill sacrifices himself. He is so badass.

This DLC will also be the passing of the torch from the original set of survivors to the new ones. This will be the last outing for them.
